A Taste of Missouri invites you to visit our store. We are a very
unique retail experience, in that we sell only Missouri-made
products. Our customers are free to sample almost every product
we offer, be it award winning- meats, cheeses, jellies, chocolates,
sauces, etc. We also serve wine from two of the top wineries in the
state. Wine sampling is absolutely free, and our customers can
sample a wide variety of Adam Puchta’s or Mount Pleasant’s award-
winning wines.
The original concept was Jim Roller’s, a lifetime resident of
Missouri. Working for a radio station in his previous employment,
Jim helped supervise one of the radio’s stations biggest
promotions, the annual Missouri Wine Festival. Jim observed the
huge crowds and how much people enjoyed wine tasting. The idea
was born to open a retail wine store featuring some of Missouri’s
best wines and have continual free wine tasting. That concept was
expanded to include meats, cheeses, and many other products, all
produced in Missouri. An added plus to the store came about
because of the research. Jim was able to find Missouri produced
products that are delicious and unique, but some of the companies
that produce these products are not large enough to market to the
grocery store chains. That means many of these products can not be
found in any chain grocery store.
A business plan was put together, research was completed, and Jim
and two of his cousins, Sam and Dick Shaler started this family
owned business, A Taste of Missouri L.L.C. They felt the best
location in Missouri for a Missouri store was in Branson, who draw
more tourists than any other town/region in the state. They
purchased a 3.25 acre lot on historic Highway 76 one mile west of
Silver Dollar City that included a 4,000 square foot rustic solid oak
building. After six weeks of remodeling and outfitting, they opened
the store on July 14, 2006. The local residents and the tourists were
both enthralled by the local flavor and the wine tasting.
Besides being open to the general public, A Taste of Missouri
welcomes all bus tours. There is accessible parking, easy access,
and complimentary gifts for drivers and tour guides. With some
advanced notice, there could even be a private showing. Please call
